Cwmcarn Forest
'Cwmcarn Forest has some of the best walking in Wales. Choose from the 12 mile circular "Raven Walk" encompassing Cwmcarn Forest and the Sirhowy and Ebbw Valleys or take the "Coal, Celts and Contrasts" which takes in the impressive Twmbarlwm mountain or shorter walks in and around the Forest.'
'The hills of this previously mined area have been transformed into peaceful forests with impressive views. It is difficult to imagine that some of the surrounding hillsides were slag heaps with hardly a tree to be seen. The Forestry Commission started to plant trees here in 1922. Today Cwmcarn Forest in the Nantcarn valley has become a haven for people and wildlife.'
