St Cybi Walk
'St Cybi, long walk (12 miles / 19.2 km) or short walk (4 miles / 6.4 km) Both options feature steep hill sections over Holyhead Mountain (720 ft / 222 m) at North Stack. The longer route extends along quiet lanes and farmland, rejoining the shorter route back to the start/finish point.'
ALERT The original Link for this Walk seems to have disappeared. The replacement Link gives some related information about the area around St Cybi's Church.
'St Cybi is believed to have lived in the 6th century, and was a great traveller, embarking on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Returning to Britain, St. Cybi then travelled to Wales with four disciples: Maelog, Llibio, Peulan and Cyngar, and was given land by Maelgwn Gwynedd on Holy Island. St. Cybi’s church - partly 13th century - is located in the centre of Holyhead and surrounded by a wall dating back to the 4th century.'
