Stadt Moers Country Park
'Stadt Moers Country Park is the largest park in the borough of Knowsley. It is approximately 220 acres and is split into 4 quadrants.'
'In the early 1980's the Groundwork Trust and Knowsley Council created Stadt Moers Park, capping off the now defunct landfill and planting the grasses and trees we see today. The land was capped-off with a layer of clay and then topsoil to allow plant growth. This was then planted up with many native and imported species of trees and shrubs. The Park was named after Knowsley's Twin town of Moers in Germany, and various dignitaries have visited since its formation such as the Burgermeister of Moers, and Prince Charles in 1988.'
