'The Preston and District Walking Club originally started its life in 1932 as The Preston CHA Rambling Club. The club was affiliated to Country Wide Holiday Association hence CHA in the name but in the 1990's the Country Wide Holiday Association ceased to exist along with many other organisations of this type as holiday trends moved away from walking type holidays to package holidays so, in 2007, it was deemed appropriate to re-name the club the Preston and District Walking Club.'
