Miltonrigg Woods Walking
'A network of paths lead you through this peaceful ancient woodland which is alive with birds. More than 200 species of flowering plant also grow here. You may spot the occasional roe deer. A pond provides a habitat for dragonflies, toads and newts.'
'Public access is important in Miltonrigg as it is unusual in being a large, flat wood with excellent access facilities and the capacity to accommodate a wide range and high numbers of visitors easily. Facilities will be provided and maintained and the site promoted to encourage and allow this usage. These objectives cover the whole woodland and include both designations of woodland: ancient semi-natural and ancient woodland site. This is in line with the outcomes in the Trust's Action Plan "Keeping Woodland Alive" to protect ancient woodland and improve biodiversity and increase public awareness and enjoyment of woodlands.'
