Type of Walk: Christian Walking Club

'The Christian Walking Club (known as the Christian Rambling Club from its foundation in 1981 until May 2013) aims to provide opportunities to enjoy walking at the weekend whilst still having Christian fellowship. We organise a programme of walking weekends and weeks away throughout the year in many parts of the UK ... We also have a fairly extensive network of Local Groups who organise day walks at the weekend, usually on a Saturday, once a month in their local area and occasional weekends away. The Local Groups are run independently of the national club.'

'We are a walking group with, typically, a couple of walks each month, on Saturdays, in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight (England, UK). Walks are 5 - 14 miles long, usually with a picnic or pub lunch, and sometimes a certain kind of tea afterwards!'

'We meet at least once a month usually for a walk of about 10 miles, enjoying the countryside within striking distance of London, or the more picturesque parts of London itself.'

'Normally has a day-walk on two Saturdays each month throughout the year. Various group members take turns to lead the walks. Most walks are between 8 and 12 miles long, with a pub lunch. Walks start within a 25 mile radius of Reading, an area which includes sections of the Thames Valley, Berkshire Downs, Chiltern Hills and North Downs ... We also walk Long Distance Walks in stages over two to four years.'

'Formed in 1984, The Scottish Christian Hillwalking Club brings together Christian men and woman, young and old from across the country who enjoy hillwalking and fellowship amidst God’s wonderful creation. We warmly welcome non-Christians to meets and members are encouraged to bring non-Christian friends to meets thus introducing them to a Christian community.'

A Christian Day Walking Group in Kent and Sussex  'We plan the walks between 8 and 14 miles each time. Normally walks take place on the third Saturday of the month, plus a few extras such as the fifth Saturday and Bank Holiday weekends. Meeting at 10.15am for a prompt 10.30am start and finish at about 4.30pm - unless otherwise advised by the leader. Sometimes the leader will arrange an evening activity ...'

'Every Sunday regardless of weather we walk in a wide variety of locations in the Home Counties. We usually meet at a Central London Station and take a train to the beginning of the ramble ... The weekly ramble is the backbone of our activities. We organise regular social events including parties at Christmas and New Year. We also organise occasional walking weekends and holidays.'
