* Fancy Free Walks Featured
'This website is a guide for people who love to walk, to observe and enjoy our incredible countryside (and townscapes too) at a leisurely speed, and who like to read a little of the story behind the places they visit. Distances vary from a soothing 1.5km (1 mile) to a bone-shattering 32 km (20 miles) ... Fancy Free Walks is a totally non-profit-making organisation dedicated to the public good. It has no finance and all the work in planning and authoring the walks, and in maintaining this site is voluntary and unpaid ...'
* Saturday Walkers' Club Featured
'London and Southeast England based walking and hiking club.'
'Includes Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Sussex and the Isle of Wight.'
'South East England covers a very large, well-populated area of the country which abounds with historic towns and cities, as well as dazzling seaside towns and villages, and beautiful rolling countryside ... Click on the Map's blue markers for details of our Curious About walks in South-East England.'
'Home to fascinating human and natural landscapes, the gently rolling southeast invites you to take leisurely walks. Discover Victorian seaside resorts or learn how the coast has been at the frontline of defence over the centuries. Explore Kent's beautiful countryside and see how the "Garden of England" is changing. Discover how chalk has shaped landscapes from iconic white cliffs to prehistoric white horses.'
'From the South Coast, North and South Downs to the Chilterns and all points in between, we have a selection of walks to suit all abilities ... Non-members are welcome to "try us out" on a couple of day walks before deciding to join, but we ask you to check with the leader first ...'
‘Our teams across the South East have put together these great downloadable walks for you and your family and friends to try. From coastal ramble to woodland wonders, there's something for those of you looking for an idle stroll or an all day adventure. We've arranged them by county.’
'A slowly growing collection of walking routes easily accessible by train from London, mostly within an hour or thereabouts of the central termini. The walks link fantastic countryside, historic monuments and country villages; the geography of south-east England means that none are hugely strenuous.'
A Christian Day Walking Group in Kent and Sussex 'We plan the walks between 8 and 14 miles each time. Normally walks take place on the third Saturday of the month, plus a few extras such as the fifth Saturday and Bank Holiday weekends. Meeting at 10.15am for a prompt 10.30am start and finish at about 4.30pm - unless otherwise advised by the leader. Sometimes the leader will arrange an evening activity ...'
'There are many walking sites covering the north of England. This one is all about the south ...'

'Every Sunday regardless of weather we walk in a wide variety of locations in the Home Counties. We usually meet at a Central London Station and take a train to the beginning of the ramble ... The weekly ramble is the backbone of our activities. We organise regular social events including parties at Christmas and New Year. We also organise occasional walking weekends and holidays.'
'Whether you're a serious hiker, leisure walker, seeking an active family holiday or just wanting to get away from it all, the comprehensive range of self-led or guided walking holidays and tour operators based in South East England can offer something for everyone.'
'The UK's ancient pathways are a national treasure out there to be explored for their history, archaelogy and wild life. Now having a tad more time for this kind of pursuit, I have been investigating some of them recently - starting with the Icknield Way ... I have split the Way into circular routes each of which takes a bite-sized stretch that can be completed as a comfortable stroll in a leisurely few hours. The standard information available is great for taking you from A to B along the paths but these circular routes will allow you to plan a day's walk which will bring you back to A again by the end of the stroll.' Other Trails include: The Ridgeway; Greensand Ridge Walk; John Bunyan Trail; North Bedfordshire Heritage Trail; Three Shires Way.

'To encourage everyone to make the most of the Thames Path, National Trails and the Environment Agency have published 12 walks along different parts of the River Thames, all with level and wide paths, gentle slopes and rest areas.'
'Choose from our library of days out by train walking guides, from beginners to advanced - all easily accessible from a South West Trains station ... ' ALERT South Western Railway is now the operator of 'South West Trains'. There is still a limited amount of walk information on their Site - but regrettably not the Series of Walks formerly described by SWT.
